The Greater Columbus Sports Commission announced today that they will be moving to the Arena District in October.  Sports Commission Executive Director Linda Logan made the announcement.

The Sport Commission, which has been located at 45 Vine Street for more than 10 years, will be moving from a 2,000 square foot space to a 4,900 square foot space in the 155 W. Nationwide Boulevard Building.  The move and expansion is a result of successfully attracting the many large-scale events that are coming to the region over the next several years including the 2015 NHL All-Star Celebration, the 2015 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament – Second & Third Rounds, the 2015 USA Volleyball Boys Junior National Championships and the 2016 NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball National Championships. Columbus is also a finalist for the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball National Championships in 2017-2020.
“This is a great move for us,” said Logan. “The growth of Columbus as a premier sports destination has also allowed the Greater Columbus Sports Commission to develop and expand our staff, increasing our ability to bid on and host more events to showcase all that the region has to offer.”

Ellis.  “This is a world class organization, bringing world class sporting events to our region.  It is a natural fit to have the Sports Commission based in the heart of the District, just steps away from Nationwide Arena and Huntington Park.”
The new Arena District location will provide the Sports Commission with outstanding street visibility near Nationwide Arena, Huntington Park, the Greater Columbus Convention Center, and partner organization Experience Columbus as well as the District’s many hotels and restaurants.
“Our achievements have been largely due to the great support we receive from the community,” said Logan. “We are thankful to the Franklin County Convention & Facilities Authority, one of our founding partners and owners of our original home for the last ten years at 45 Vine Street, and we look forward to moving to our new home in the Arena District.”
The Greater Columbus Sports Commission plans on moving into their new space in October.
