The elections are now over and the political eyes are shifting toward the Democratic National Convention, and Columbus has thrown its name into the race. NBC4 has reported that the list of five will be narrowed to three before Thanksgiving and according to the station, officials are confident in the city’s position.
The big push now is to sell the fact that Ohio is a swing state and as the saying goes, “As Ohio goes, so goes the Nation.”
Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman said that having the DNC in Columbus could help them win this state.“I mean, Democrats could still win Ohio without being in Columbus. It just certainly does help when they have a convention of this size in the state of Ohio, in the City of Columbus,” said Coleman.
The other two likely contenders are Brooklyn and Philadelphia, and many believe Birmingham and Phoenix will be axed from the list.
