Passion Pit, Matt and Kim and DJ Khaled are among a handful of acts announced as this year’s headliners at the third annual Fashion Meet Music Festival located in the Arena District in downtown Columbus, which also features 20 designers this Labor Day weekend.
Tickets went on sale on Tuesday, the same day the lineup and festival details were announced. Set for Sept. 3 and 4, the two-day affair in the Arena District seeks to bring fashion and design into the forefront by joining live performances and runway shows.
The festival “creates an epic weekend Columbus event by combining music, fashion, passion, and purpose to celebrate creativity in our city and to foster growth and collaboration each year,” said festival spokesperson Melissa Dickson in a written statement.
This year, organizers are introducing wristbands that function as a digital wallet, allowing festival goers to pre-load money and forego cash.
Among this year’s featured designers is Michelle Lesniak, who won Project Runway’s all-star season.
Indie rockers Passion Pit, dance duo Matt and Kim, rapper DJ Khaled and Canadian electronic dance music duo Adventure Club top a lineup of 45 musical acts.
The downtown Columbus festival will take place on four stages this year, which is one more from the prior year when national acts like rapper Ludacris and “Sail” rockers Awolnation, among others, headlined within McFerson Commons and a portion of W. Nationwide Boulevard.
Early bird general admission tickets are $69.99 and VIP tickets are $149.99 through June 7. A portion of the proceeds benefits the festival’s charitable arm, The Fusion Foundation, a non-profit that provides scholarships and internships to those pursuing fashion or music careers.
