Country comes to the Concrete Jungle: Miranda Lambert at Nationwide Arena
Columbus has been my home for 6 years now but I can never forget my roots that come from a small town in Virginia. When the weather gets warm and everyone in Columbus is just looking for a good patio to enjoy a cocktail, I’ve got one more thing on my to-do list: find a great country concert! When given the chance to check out the incredibly talented Miranda Lambert I had to say yes!
I live just a few blocks away from the Arena District in the Short North so fortunately I didn’t have to worry about parking or taxi’s but trust me there are plenty of great lots nearby that won’t break your bank! My friends and I walked from my house through the Park Street area to the Arena District. That is probably my favorite view of the area. I love the entrance to the amazing condos and cute cobblestone streets that make the Arena District a visual treat.

We strolled past the good eats at Gordon Biersch and Buca Di Beppo for the amazing people watching patio at 343 Front Street. We had an awesome view of the Arena and took our cue from the crowds on when it was time to head in for the show. 343 is known for having a large crowd before concerts at Nationwide Arena. If you want to get pumped up I suggest you stop by! Being surrounded by people who are excited to see the artist you’re about to experience is unbeatable! Everyone knows that drinks at concerts can get a little pricey so it’s nice to have so many options right outside the door of the venue! After taking in the warm weather for a bit we were ready to go in!

We went up an escalator which I was convinced had to be taking us to heaven (tallest escalator I’ve ever seen!) and then went to find some drinks before grabbing our seats. After I got over the sad fact that I had to break my diet rules of no beer, I got the only alcohol available, Bud Light. However on the bright side, they did accept credit cards which is rare at many venues!
Miranda Lambert was great! I love all kinds of live music because singing live is a ballsy act but combine that with having amazing live vocals and you’ve got an unforgettable performance! Miranda, her openers, Jerrod Niemann and Chris Young plus the Pistol Annies, who made a special appearance, all closed the show together! Their encore performance kept our energy up and we were ready to have more fun! If you haven’t caught a show at Nationwide yet you’re missing out! The beautiful atmosphere of the Arena District makes a night out on the town like a mini-vacation!
