The 13th annual OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon will take place on April 30 in an increasingly crowded field of road races locally and nationwide.
In a deal that will elevate the profile of the race along with the city of Columbus, race organizers have joined forces with USA Track & Field to incorporate the USATF Half Marathon Championships into this year’s event.
The partnership spurs several firsts: This will be the first time that the national championship has been part of an existing half marathon rather than a full marathon event (it’s been in Houston for most of the past 10 years). The race will offer record total prize money of $90,000 and it will mark the first time that a half marathon has been broadcast on live TV in Ohio, seen here on WBNS-TV (Channel 10).
