CD101 Day Sides A and B were marked on my calendar as soon as the concert announcements were made. I managed to score tickets to Side A before they sold out within hours. At only $5 a ticket, I wasn’t surprised. Split up over two weekends, the artists featured were (in order of appearance):
CD101 Day Side A
The Spruce Campbells
J. Roddy Walston & The Business
Margot & The Nuclear So & So’s
Of Monsters & Men
CD101 Day Side B
Walk the Moon
The Naked & Famous
Side A, March 31st, was a little colder than I expected it would be. Despite the weather, we had a great time. I was exceptionally excited about seeing Of Monsters and Men and they did NOT disappoint. CD101 Day Side A was my first concert at the LC Outdoors and I really loved it. I can’t wait to see more concerts there this summer! I left happy (yet slightly frozen).
Side B, April 7, was thankfully a lot warmer! We decided to grab dinner beforehand at Ted Montana’s Grill. Even with a Clippers game, a Blue Jackets game and CD101 Day Side B all happening at the same time, we only had to wait about 35 minutes for a table. Wonderful service, delicious burgers and we were out of there in time to make it to the show!
Earlier in the year, we had seen Walk the Moon open for Young the Giant and so we were excited to see them perform again. They’re from Cincinnati, have a great fan base and the energy is really fun to be around. It’s always fun for me to discover bands after seeing them perform live (versus discovering their album first).
I would HIGHLY recommend attending these type of shows in the future. It never felt too packed, the energy was contagious and you can see 10 bands within one week for less than $20! I’m so thankful for venues like The LC and an amazing radio station like CD101 at 102.5. If you also attended, be sure to comment and share your favorite band or photo!
