Columbus Restaurant Spotlight | Boston’s Restaurant & Sports Bar
March 21, 2018
You and your friends have tickets to a Columbus Blue Jackets game and you’re looking for an affordable sit-down restaurant and bar in downtown Columbus to eat and drink at before heading to Nationwide Arena. Where do you go?
For many Arena District regulars, the first place that comes to mind is Boston’s Restaurant & Sports Bar.
Boston’s uniquely caters to any type of Arena District passersby – whether it’s a group of friends out for drinks after a Columbus Clippers game, a couple needing a quick bite before a concert at Nationwide Arena, a volleyball team celebrating with pizza after a tournament at the Columbus Convention Center, or an Arena District employee looking for lunch.
See what makes Boston’s Restaurant & Sports Bar so special in our first edition of Columbus Restaurant Spotlight:
A Family Feel
Boston’s was opened in 2008 by general manager, Tim Emery, and his wife. The couple have worked in the food & beverage industry for over 35 years, and throughout that time owned and operated several successful restaurants, including a Perkin’s Family Restaurant and Michael’s Steak Houses.
Tim’s children were brought up in the business from a very young age and, after graduating college, made the decision to join their parents at Boston’s – giving this Arena District restaurant and sports bar a truly authentic family touch.
“We are just so grateful every day that we have the opportunity to work together and operate a Restaurant & Sport’s Bar in the beautiful Arena District,” said Tim.
A Columbus Game Day Treasure
Whether you’re stopping in before a Columbus Blue Jackets game or celebrating after a Columbus Clippers win, Boston’s Restaurant & Sports Bar is a sports fan’s favorite place to eat, drink and be merry! Tim and his family enjoy renewing friendships with the regulars who frequently come in during their team’s season.
Featuring the perfect combination of speed, service, taste, atmosphere and affordability, the restaurant has earned a reputation for getting fans in and out in a timely manner – allowing them to get to the game before any action starts.
For Tim Emery, high school sports crowds are the most fun to host. Seeing everyone so excited to see their local team compete for a state championship at Ice Haus, Nationwide Arena or Huntington Park never fails to bring a smile to his face.
Of all the events, though, nothing beats Blue Jackets playoff hockey – when the Arena District becomes electric, and the atmosphere inside Boston’s transforms into an infectious wave of passion and excitement.
But catering to live sports fans isn’t the only thing Boston’s is known for – virtually any game for any sport can be watched here. The brewpub features a spacious circular bar area fitted with huge high-definition TVs. There are also several more TVs scattered throughout the restaurant area – ensuring that matter where you sit, you’ll be able to watch the game.
Top Sit-Down Spot for Pizza in Columbus
From fresh wings to juicy burgers, Boston’s is known for its tasty food – but no dish is more popular than their gourmet pizza. Over the years, hundreds of people, including Tim Emery himself, have said that Boston’s pizza is the best pizza they’ve ever had – and for good reason!
With sizes ranging from Individual to Large, Boston’s pizza is the perfect dish to share with large groups – being cost-effective, efficient and fun to eat.
Each day, chefs press the pizza dough by hand, and use the perfect blend of seasoning to create a flavor explosion for your taste buds. Guests can choose from dozens of pizza menu options – including flatbread, calzone, thin-crust and gluten-free/whole wheat crust – or simply opt to create their own pie from a sizeable list of ingredients.
Lunch in the Arena District
Did you know Boston’s Restaurant & Sports Bar is one of the most popular places for workers to get lunch in downtown Columbus? It’s most likely due to the brewpub’s Lunch Club program – which offers a 15% lunch discount to the hundreds of people employed within the Arena District.
But even a promotion that good only gets people through the door. Boston’s gets its lunch crowd coming back with a medley of delicious dishes, each one specially sized and priced for time efficiency. Popular lunch menu items at Boston’s include:
- Crispy white fish tacos served with a side of tortilla chips & salsa
- The Nooner – an indy-sized Boston’s pizza of your choice – served with a side of salad
- Pasta & salad combo featuring a special selection of gourmet options
Wide Variety of Local Craft Beers
Boston’s wouldn’t be one of the best sports bars in the Arena District without a large list of local Columbus and Ohio craft beers. The sports bar changes their taps frequently to ensure even Columbus regulars get a new and interesting experience every time they visit.
When the weather’s nice, you’ll find dozens of guests out on the Boston’s patio with a cold beer and a large pizza – the perfect sign of a great night to come.
