Blue Jackets announce the 5th Line 5K Race presented by OhioHealth

October 29, 2015

The Columbus Blue Jackets and Columbus-based M3S Sports are teaming up to host The 5th Line 5K Race presented by OhioHealth on Saturday, January 23, 2016.  The first-annual downtown road race offers runners and walkers an active way to celebrate the winter season with the Blue Jackets.
The 5th Line 5K Race begins at 10 a.m. outside of Nationwide Arena and takes participants on a 3.1-mile tour of downtown Columbus and the Arena District before finishing back at the home of the Blue Jackets. The event is limited to the first 3,000 runners and walkers.  Participants may register now by visiting www.The5thLine5K.com.
“The NHL All-Star 5K Race that was held last January was one of the highlights of the NHL All-Star Weekend and our Winter Park festivities,” said Blue Jackets Executive Vice President of Business Operations Larry Hoepfner.  “With a sold-out field of participants from across Ohio and far beyond, it was a great way to connect the running community and casual fitness enthusiasts with our sport and we look forward to partnering with M3S Sports to put on another great event.”
Participants will receive a Columbus Blue Jackets-themed official finisher’s medal and a Columbus Blue Jackets-themed long-sleeve, gender-specific technical race shirt.
“We are honored to partner with the Columbus Blue Jackets on The 5th Line 5K Race and produce a 5K event that allows runners and walkers to celebrate the Blue Jackets, hockey and fitness,” said David Babner, race director for M3S Sports. “The NHL All-Star 5K Race last January was a tremendous success and we look forward to making The 5th Line 5K an annual celebration.”
