As we enter warmer weather months in the Arena District, we look forward to an increase in outdoor events including the upcoming Komen Columbus Race for the Cure. Please review the information below and plan accordingly. An increase in vehicle and pedestrian traffic is expected.

Komen Columbus Race for the Cure | Saturday, May 20 at 8:30 a.m.

The 2023 Komen Columbus Race for the Cure supporting breast cancer research and awareness will be held Saturday, May 20 at North Bank Park in downtown Columbus. The start and finish portions of the 3.1-mile race event will occur along Spring St. at McFerson Commons and a post-race celebration will be held at North Bank Park.

To accommodate the estimated 10,000 participants, rolling street closures are expected along the course as the race progresses. Temporary street closures are expected in and around the Arena District beginning Friday, May 19 for event setup, specifically:

Partial lane closures on Friday, May 19 beginning at 9:00 a.m. and reopening by 12:00 p.m. Friday, including Long St., Spring St., and Neil Ave.

Saturday, May 20 beginning at 6:00 a.m. and reopening by 12:00 p.m. Saturday:

  • Long St. between Hocking St. and Marconi Blvd.
  • Spring St. between Hocking St. and West St.
  • Neil Ave. between New Public Ln. and Long St.
  • Cozzins St. and Hanover St. between Nationwide Blvd. and Long St.

Note: Access to the Front Street Parking Garage may be temporarily limited as participants pass through the area. Parking staff will be onsite to accommodate monthly parkers arriving during the event. Arena District Resident Parking Garages will remain open and accessible.

It’s a great time to live in the Arena District! We hope you will partake in the exciting events happening in and around the neighborhood.

The 2023 OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon, Quarter Marathon, and 5K will be held Saturday, April 29 at 8:00 a.m. in downtown Columbus. The start of the race events will occur at the intersection of High St. and Town St. and a finish line celebration will be held at the Columbus Commons.

To accommodate the estimated 12,000 participants, rolling street closures are expected along the course as the race progresses. Please plan ahead for temporary closures in and around the Arena District beginning at 8:15 a.m. and reopening by 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, specifically:

  • Neil Ave. (between Goodale Ave. and Vine St.)
  • Vine St. (between Neil Ave. and High St.)
  • Front St. (between Vine St. and Long St.)
  • Long St. (between Front St. and High St.)

Note: Area parking impacts include temporarily limited access to the Arena Crossing Garage and Flats on Vine Parking as runners pass through the area, all other resident parking will remain open and accessible. We hope that you will join in on the fun activities happening in the area – whether that be as a participant in a race or crowd-supporter, a fan at Lower.com Field, or a game-day regular at your favorite Arena District bar or restaurant.

We are excited to welcome the The NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball First and Second Rounds to the Arena District this weekend, March 17 & 19. Visiting team supporters and local sports fans will be in the area to attend games at Nationwide Arena and watch live from neighborhood restaurants and bars. Fans are encouraged to come early for the pre-game action on Battelle Plaza and can enjoy St. Patrick’s Day bagpipers passing through the District on Friday.

Traffic Patterns and Parking
During the games on Friday, March 17 a portion of Nationwide Blvd. between McConnell Blvd. and Front St. will be temporarily closed to accommodate increased pedestrian traffic between sessions. The closure will begin after the start of session 1 and will reopen prior to the end of session 2. For access in and out of the Arena District during this time, we recommend using Spring St. to the south or Vine St. to the north, via Neil Ave. or Front St.

All resident parking garages will remain open and accessible.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Additionally, on Friday, the Shamrock Club of Columbus is sponsoring their annual St. Patrick’s Day parade. The parade will begin at 11:45am near COSI then will move north on High St. ending at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. Expect rolling street closures on High St. as the parade passes through.

Residents,

The Columbus Blue Jackets 5th Line 5K race will be held this Sunday, February 5 at 10 a.m. outside of Nationwide Arena. The course route is 3.1 miles through downtown Columbus and the Arena District “Finishing On Center Ice” inside Nationwide Arena.

To accommodate the estimated 4,000 race participants, a temporary road closure is scheduled beginning at 5 a.m. Sunday:

• Nationwide Blvd. from Ludlow St. to John H McConnell Blvd.
• John H McConnell Blvd. from Nationwide Blvd. to Brodbelt Ln.

Roads are planned to reopen by 12:30 p.m. Sunday. An increase in vehicular and pedestrian traffic is expected.

Arena District resident parking garages will remain open and accessible.

Note: Rolling closures are expected along the race route, beginning 45 minutes prior to the start of the race. They are to be reopened as the last participants clear the area.

There are temporary street closures planned along the course to accommodate the 5,000 run participants, including:

Beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 18 and reopening by 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 20:

  • West St. (between south of 191 W Nationwide Blvd. and Marconi Blvd.)

There will be a few temporary closures on Sunday, November 20 beginning at 3:00 a.m. and reopening by 1:00 p.m. Sunday.  None of which will impact access to Arena Crossing, Flats on Vine or Flats II:

  • Nationwide Blvd. (between McConnell Blvd. and Front St.)
  • Marconi Blvd. (between Nationwide Blvd. and Spring St.)
  • Spring St. (between Marconi Blvd. and Neil Ave.)
  • Long St. (between Hocking St. and Marconi Blvd.) – reopening by 11:00 a.m.
  • Neil Ave. (between Spring St. and Long St.) – reopening by 11:00 a.m.
  • West St. (between Nationwide Blvd. and Marconi Blvd.)

The 2022 Central Ohio Heart Walk supporting heart health takes place Saturday, August 20 at 8:45 a.m. throughout downtown Columbus. A portion of the three-mile walk event will occur at McFerson Commons and the North Bank Park corridor along Spring St. and Long St.

To accommodate the setup and nearly 10,000 participants, temporary road closures are planned in and around the Arena District, beginning Friday, August 19 after the morning commute at 9:00 a.m. and reopening Saturday, August 20 by 1:00 p.m.:

  • West St. (between Nationwide Blvd. and Marconi Blvd.)
  • W Spring St. curb lane only (between John McConnell Blvd. and West St.)

Saturday, August 20 from 4:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.:

  • W Spring St. (between John McConnell Blvd. and West St.)
  • John McConnell Blvd. (between Spring St. and New Public Ln.)

The 2022 Pelotonia bike ride supporting cancer research takes place August 5 – 6 throughout downtown Columbus. A portion of the event will occur along Long St. and Spring St., between McFerson Commons and Hocking St. Please be aware there will be increased cyclist and pedestrian traffic in the Arena District the evening of Friday, August 5 and ride morning on Saturday, August 6.

To accommodate the set-up and nearly 6,500 participants, there are planned road closures in and around the Arena District, beginning Friday, August 5 at 9:00 a.m. after the morning commute and reopening Saturday, August 6 by 2:00 p.m.:

  • Neil Ave. (between W Long St. and New Public Ln.)
  • West St. (between W Spring St. and Nationwide Blvd.)
  • John McConnell Blvd. (between W Spring St. and New Public Ln.)
  • W Spring St. and W Long St. (between Hocking St. and Marconi Blvd.)

For access in and out of the Arena District, we recommend using Neil Ave. to Nationwide Blvd. or entering from Front St.

Arena District parking garages will remain open throughout the event.

Sunny Street Café is a great spot to grab breakfast and coffee while supporting riders as they depart from McFerson Commons on Saturday morning.

Komen Columbus Race for the Cure | Saturday, May 14 at 8:30 AM

The event will be held Saturday, May 14 at North Bank Park. The start and finish portions of the race event will occur along Spring St. and Long St. at North Bank Park.

To accommodate the estimated 15,000 participants, rolling street closures are expected along the course as the race progresses. Please plan ahead for temporary road closures in and around the Arena District beginning at 6 AM and reopening by 12 PM on Saturday, May 14:

  • Long St. between Hocking St. and Marconi St.
  • Spring St. between West St. and Hocking St.
  • Neil Ave. between New Public Ln. and Long St.
  • Cozzins St. and Hanover St. between Nationwide Blvd. and Spring St.

Residential parking garages will remain open and accessible. An increase in vehicle and pedestrian traffic is expected.

OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon | Saturday, April 30, 2022

The 2022 OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon, OhioHealth Quarter Marathon and Cap City 5K will be held Saturday, April 30 in downtown Columbus. The start and finish portions of the race events will occur at the Columbus Commons.

To accommodate the estimated 12,000 participants, rolling street closures are expected along the course as the race progresses. Plan ahead for temporary closures in and around the Arena District beginning at 8:00 a.m. and reopening by 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, specifically:

Attention Residents,

The Columbus Crew will be taking on Nashville SC this Saturday, April 2nd at 6 PM. Prior to kick-off, residents are welcome to join the fun and celebrate the Columbus Crew during the Block Party on Battelle Plaza!

In contrast to the Megatailgate, the block party will not be BYOB but drink specials and a special Nordecke serving station will be available via Whistle & Keg.
The Dora will also be activated an hour after the Block Party begins which means you will be allowed to take your alcoholic beverage to-go in a special Dora cup from participating locations.

The first Block Party event will be taking place this Saturday, April 2nd at 2 PM.

You will notice event setup taking place a couple of hours prior to the event start. Keep an eye out for upcoming dates and times on our social channels and active building. Additional celebratory dates in April will include April 16 and 30, additional dates will be communicated monthly.

An increase in pedestrian traffic during these times is expected, please plan accordingly. The block party will conclude with fans marching to the match.

Arnold 5K and Arnold 5K Pump & Run | Sunday, March 6, 2022

Two Arnold Sports Festival race events are being held on Sunday, March 6, 2022 in and around the Arena District. Races will begin at the Goodale Blvd./ High St. intersection at 9:15 a.m. and conclude by noon.

Rolling street closures are anticipated along the race route beginning at 9:00 a.m. to accommodate participants:

  • Nationwide Blvd. (between High St. and Marconi Blvd.)
  • Front St. (at Nationwide Blvd.)
  • Marconi Blvd. (between Spring. St. and Nationwide Blvd.).

NOTE: Arena District parking garages will remain open and accessible during the event. Parking garage access may be periodically restricted at the Marconi and Front St. garages as participants pass through the area. Parking staff will be onsite to accommodate monthly parkers arriving during the event.

Arnold 5K start time: 9:15 a.m. | Arnold Pump & Run 5K start time: 10:30 a.m.

The 5th Line 5K race will be held on Saturday, February 26 at Nationwide Blvd./Nationwide Arena from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. To accommodate the estimated 2,000 race participants, a temporary road closure is scheduled beginning at 7:00 a.m. Saturday:

  • Nationwide Blvd. from McConnell Blvd. to Front St.

Roads are planned to reopen by 12:00 p.m. Saturday. Arena District parking garages will remain open and accessible.

Note: Roads along the course will have rolling closures beginning 45 minutes prior to the start of the race. They are to be reopened as soon as the last participant clears the area.

Girls on the Run 5K | Saturday, November 20

The Girls on the Run 5K is this Saturday, November 20 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in downtown Columbus. The event starts and finishes at the Columbus Commons, with a small portion of the course looping around McFerson Commons in the Arena District.

Rolling street closures are expected along the race course as the 1,500 participants make their way through downtown, including the streets immediately surrounding McFerson Commons, Long St., and Spring St. They are expected to reopen by 1:00 p.m. Saturday.

Hot Chocolate 5K/15K | Sunday, November 21

The Hot Chocolate 15K/5K race event benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital takes place at McFerson Commons on Sunday, November 21 from 7:30 a.m.–11:30 a.m. The race follows the course through downtown and the Arena District.

To accommodate the set-up and nearly 7,000 participants, there are planned road closures in and around the Arena District.

NOTE: Arena District parking garages will remain open and accessible, with the exception of the Marconi Garage. Marconi Garage parkers who need access Sunday morning will be accommodated at an alternate garage by the onsite staff member.

Beginning at 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 17 and to reopen by 6:00 p.m. Monday, November 22:

  • McConnell Blvd. from Spring St. to New Public Ln.

Beginning at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 20 and to reopen by 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 21:

  • West St. from Nationwide Blvd. to Marconi Blvd.

Temporary closures on Sunday, November 21 beginning at 3:00 a.m.:

  • Nationwide Blvd. from McConnell Blvd. to Front St. (reopening at 1:00 p.m.)
  • Marconi Blvd. from Nationwide Blvd. to Spring St. (reopening at 1:00 p.m.)
  • Spring St. from Marconi Blvd. to Neil Ave. (reopening at 1:00 p.m.)
  • Long St. from Hocking to Marconi Blvd.(reopening at 11:00 a.m.)

With the opening of Lower.com Field this summer, the Arena District is now home to three Columbus sports teams and their stadiums. Beginning next week as the Blue Jackets enter the preseason, all three teams will be active, and all three teams are scheduled to play home games on Wednesday, September 29.

Please be aware there will be additional pedestrian and vehicular traffic starting late Wednesday afternoon and into the evening as fans enter the Arena District to park, dine, and head to the games.

Wednesday, September 29:

  • Columbus Clippers: 6:15pm | Huntington Park
  • Columbus Blue Jackets: 7:00pm | Nationwide Arena
  • Columbus Crew: 8:00pm | Lower.com Field

As Arena District restaurants and bars welcome fans from all three sports teams next week, residents are also encouraged to experience the pre-game energy and atmosphere that makes living in a sports destination neighborhood so unique.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 22: BD’s Mongolian Grill Reopens in the Arena District

The grill is firing back up at BD’s Mongolian! Reopening Wednesday, September 22, BD’s is located at 295 Marconi Blvd. Known for their famous create-your-own stir fry, BD’s also has a full bar and a delicious dessert menu. On the go? Order your custom BD’s creation online for pickup or delivery.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 25: CBJ Cannon Blast 5K road closure and garage access alert

The Columbus Blue Jackets Cannon Blast 5K takes place this Saturday, September 25 in the Arena District and downtown Columbus from 8:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. The start and finish portions of the race event will occur on Nationwide Blvd. and Battelle Plaza.

Arena District parking garages will remain open and accessible, however police will be directing access to the McConnell and Marconi garages.

  • The Marconi garage can be accessed by taking Nationwide Blvd. westbound from Front St.
  • The McConnell garage can be accessed via Nationwide Blvd. eastbound from Neil Ave.

To accommodate the event set-up and 1,500 race participants, there are temporary road closures planned in and around the Arena District including Nationwide Blvd. from Front St. to West St., starting at 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 25 and reopening by Noon.

Don’t be alarmed if you hear the sound of a cannon. The Blue Jackets cannon will be fired at 8:00 am Saturday to start the race. Additional detail and the 5K race course map can be found here: https://cannonblast5k.com/

We wanted to take this opportunity to notify you of the 2021 AEP Ohio Columbus 10K taking place Sunday, September 12 throughout downtown Columbus from 8:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Arena District parking garages will remain open and accessible.

The start and finish portions of the race event will occur at McFerson Commons and along West St. To accommodate the event set-up and participants, there are temporary road closures planned in and around the Arena District, starting Sunday, September 12 at 4:00 a.m. and reopening Sunday, September 12 by 12:00 p.m.:

  • West St. from Marconi Blvd. to Nationwide Blvd.

For access in and out of the Arena District, we recommend using Neil Ave. to Nationwide Blvd. or entering from Front St.
